We live in a quiet little town in the piney woods of Texas right down the road from the Arkansas border. The area is growing fast but our town is sort of caught in a time warp. I am glad. The first Champion was finished in 1970-something and has been followed by over 100 others in three countries along with nearly as many performance titles. I once had a goal that I'd have equal number of conformation titles as performance. I'm over that. We have be blessed with some great dogs, and nice wins. We feel that slowly are breeding goals are being achieved. But it seems that we keep setting the bar higher, just to keep things going. I grew up with Poodles, (still have a token Poo or two) and we always had Border Collies on the farm. Of course once I was on my own I had to try different breeds,started with Shih-Tzu and Lhasas. Been a few breed in the 40 years in between. Never been able to only have one breed, always envied those that could. I love so many, How I think we have settled with Border Collies and Podengos. PODs are a new breed and we are having fun learning about them and educating others on the breed. With these two breed there is never a dull moment not sure which one is more active or smarter. I guess time might tell. |
Bokate' came to be in 1974ish, with one goal and though it has been refined, it remains the same all these years. To produce the best dogs we can. Dogs with outstanding conformation. Dogs with loving outgoing happy personalities. Dogs that have sound bodies, in structure and health. To meet these ends we test our breeding stock for genetic diseases that concerns our breeds, we constantly study the current information of genetics, health and behavior for our breed and all dogs in general. Our dogs are tested both in the conformation ring and some performances as well. We work & live with our dogs on a day to day basis, and they live with each other. In order for this to be possible our dogs need to be of sound mind, and be biddable and willing to learn. All dogs are trained in some level of obedience, agility and some fun stuff like freestyle, & tricks to make us smile. We compete in conformation to prove their soundness in body, and test in training and performance events to prove their mind. We live, love and play with them to prove their depth of soul. Breeding is never taken lightly, we breed to reach out goals, one puppy at a time. |
